Agency for Support and Coordination of Russian Participation in International Humanitarian Operations (EMERCOM)
EMERCOM Agency was set up in 1996 with the purpose of ensuring and coordinating Russian participation in international humanitarian and peacemaking operations. The Agency is the part of the Russian National Corps of Emergency Humanitarian Response. Since the foundation the Agency has implemented more than 500 humanitarian operations.
The key partners of the Agency:
- International Civil Defense Organization;
- World Food Program of the UN;
- International Red Cross and Red Crescent Federation ;
- Russian-Serbian Humanitarian Centre (RSHC)
- Russian-Armenian Center of Humanitarian Response (RACHR);
- Humanitarian centers in the Republic of Cuba, the Republic of Nicaragua.
On behalf of the Russian Federation the Agency provides assistance to international civil defense services by supply of national advanced fire and rescue equipment, the organization of training courses for foreign experts in leading universities in the EMERCOM of Russia. The Agency also provides food assistance on a regular basis.
As part of scientific and technical international cooperation, the Agency promotes advanced national fire and rescue technologies from leading Russian suppliers.
