Today the specialized fire station for extinguishing major fires of the Federal Fire Service in Karelia turns 24.

The start of the Karelian fire troops dates back to 29 November 1989, when the Specialized station for first-priority emergency rescue operations of the Fire Department of the Interior Ministry of Autonomous Soviet Republic was based at paramilitary fire station No 2.
In 1989 there were 41 people in the staff, while today there are 90 firefighters.
