The command and staff manoeuvres on modeling various options for the development of the situation related to earthquakes has been completed in the National Emergency Management Center (NEMC) of EMERCOM of Russia. Exercises began yesterday at 8.00 MSK. Besides EMERCOM staff, the manoeuvres were attended by representatives of “Rosatom” corporation, Institute of Nuclear Energy Safety (IBRAE), Russian Federal Consumer Rights Protection and Human Health Control Service (Rospotrebnadzor), Federal Service for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring (Rosgidromet), Ministry of Agriculture, Federal Water Resources Agency, Federal Agency on Mineral Resources (Rosnedra), Ministry of the Interior and other ministries and the Far East federal district subjects as well.
The elements of interagency cooperation, information sharing and problem solving on assessment the situation were practiced during the command and staff exercises. The participants had two major educational goals: to check the readiness of the territorial Far East Federal District sub-units of the System of Emergency Prevention and Relief (SEPR) to act on prevention and liquidation of emergency situations and coordination.
Three stages of the planned command and staff exercises have been completed to the present moment. During the first stage actions of the Emergency Management Centers of the territorial bodies of EMERCOM in the Far East Federal District on obtaining information about a possible emergency situation were checked. During the second stage government of territorial and functional SEPR subsystems of the District conducted activities aimed at eliminating the consequences of emergencies. These stages were completed yesterday. The last stage has been held this morning, which considered proposals to improve joint actions.
Exersices have shown that the forces and facilities of EMERCOM, the federal center and forces of territorial subsystem of the Far East are ready for emergencies.
