The helicopter-borne hospital which is located in the Lupu-Alu village, 20 km away from Padang, the center of the earthquake, started its work on Monday. In several hours, hundreds of locals crowded near the hospital in search for help, as the village hospital had been destroyed.
According to the information, dated morning 7th October, 356 people received medical help, 154 of whom—during the first day of the hospital work. On Monday, 42 injured got surgical help, 9 operations were performed. All the injured come with infectious maims, there are also people who come with old fractures.
The period of search-and-rescue works continues. The rescuers EMERCOM of Russia have searched three sites in the Lupu-Alu and Pariaman villages where there could be people under the debris, however, they did not find any dead or injured ones.
