The doctors EMERCOM of Russia have started rendering medical help to the victims of the earthquake in Western Sumatra. The hospital EMERCOM of Russia is situated in the Lupu-Alu village, about 20 km away from the Potang city, the center of the earthquake.

“Thousands of people are in need of a doctor. We are ready to render them qualified help—pediatrics, orthopaedics, traumatology and surgery. There are 24 doctors in the hospital as well as engineering staff,” said the head of the helicopter-borne hospital “Centrospas” Alexandr Ivanjus’.

“Most people come with different concussions, scratch marks, fractures. Many patients suffer from ill health,” said Alexandr Ivanjus’.

About 100 people received medical help in the half-day period. Moreover, the psychologists of the Center of Emergency Psychological Aid EMERCOM of Russia are working with the injured.
