EMERCOM of Russia implements measures for the sustainable operation of life support facilities, energy and transport infrastructure in bad weather

On February 15, the First Deputy Minister of EMERCOM of Russia Alexander Chupriyan held a weekly conference call.

During the week, severe and adverse weather phenomena were in 56 regions of the Russian Federation. More than 2 thousand models of the development of the situation have been prepared. The operational duty shifts control the situation.

The cyclones brought heavy snow to the regions of the Far East, Volga and Central Russia, causing roof collapses and restricting transport links. The forces and means of the Russian Emergencies Ministry were used to assist road users: heating and power points were deployed for them, heavy vehicles were towed. At present, work on ensuring the sustainable operation of life support facilities and clearing snow from the roofs of buildings continues.

Over the past week, fire and rescue units have saved more than 890 people in 1.5 thousand road accidents. Another 165 people were rescued by military rescue and search and rescue teams. On the tourist routes, 56 groups with a total number of over 800 people were registered, no accidents with tourists were allowed.

The number of accidents at water bodies has halved. During the week in the water areas, the help of rescuers was required in 8 cases, while 25 people were rescued. EMERCOM of Russia continues to monitor the operation of ice crossings. Now in the country there are more than 1 thousand crossings on frozen water bodies and 140 winter roads.

During the reporting period, more than 4 thousand fires were extinguished, including a natural fire on the territory of the Republic of Ingushetia. In particular, volunteer fire brigades were involved in liquidating 290 fires.

In addition, the pyrotechnic divisions discovered and defused 41 explosive objects, including 12 aerial bombs, within a week.
