On Defender of the Fatherland Day, the leadership of the Russian Emergencies Ministry and members of the Ministry's Board laid flowers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier near the Kremlin wall in the Alexander Garden. The solemn event was also attended by heads of structural units of the Central Office and representatives of the Central Council of Veterans.
Laying a wreath and flowers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier has become a tradition for employees of the Ministry.
“Today, on Defender of the Fatherland Day, we not only pay tribute to traditions, we bow before the heroic deeds of the victors, before the selfless work of front-line soldiers and home front workers. They protected our country from the threat and rebuilt it from the ruins after the war, thanks to we live in a peaceful and prosperous country. This feat will forever be in our hearts and remains an example for all generations of our country,” the Russian Emergencies Ministry noted.
Those present at the ceremony honored the memory of the soldiers who died during the war with a minute of silence.
The event ended with the passage of the banner group and the company of the guard of honor to a march performed by a military orchestra.
