The traditional All-Russian sailing regatta "Winter Riviera" has been held in Sochi since February 23rd. The southern resort is the only place in Russia where sailing competitions can be held during the winter months. Safety in the water area of Sochi is ensured by the specialists of the Adler Inspection Section of the State Inspection Service of the Russian Federation.
“Every year, our employees ensure the safety of teams arriving at the competition,” said Dmitry Sokur, Senior State Inspector for Small Vessels at the Adler inspection area. “This year, 196 people take part in the regatta, 111 of them under the age of 18, as well as 136 yachts.”
Every day before the start of the next stage of the competition, the specialists of the State Inspectorate for Small Vessels take part in meetings with the organizers of the regatta and the leaders of the teams, monitor the number of ships going to sea. Over the years of working with yachtsmen, the interaction mechanism has been fine-tuned like clockwork.
“We are working as usual,” Dmitry Sokur noted. “Our task is to ensure safety on the water and at the same time not interfere with the competition.”
The winners of the regatta will be determined today on February 27th.
