On April 30, the Day of the Fire Service, the Russian Emergencies Ministry is launching a multimedia project in memory of the fire fighters who died in the line of duty - "The Book of Memory". This is the first project of this kind, implemented by the department, containing unique archival materials.
The site https://memory.mchs.gov.ru/ was created to preserve and perpetuate the fond memory of the Heroes of the Soviet Union, Heroes of the Russian Federation, department employees who saved others at the cost of their lives. The magnitude of their feat has no boundaries.
To date, the "Book of Memory" contains 457 heroic stories of firefighters and rescuers, materials about 243 memorial plaques, 133 monuments and 118 museum formations of the department. The information is posted for the period from 1990 to 2020, formed in alphabetical and chronological order. The work on collecting continues.
In addition, the site contains stories about emergencies and incidents, descriptions of the exploits of firefighters, rescuers and mine rescuers and their biographies, merits and awards, memoirs of colleagues and witnesses of the feat, texts of poems and songs dedicated to the memory of employees of the EMERCOM of Russia. In the future, it is planned to develop a section dedicated to significant events and rescue operations in the history of the department.
The resource has a search by the names of the heroes and employees of the department, as well as a list of the location of memorial plaques, monuments and museums with reference to geolocation.
The Memory Book is already available to users and adapted for different platforms and screen resolutions. In addition, a printed version is ready for release.
