On September 3, the third artificial intelligence hackathon (hacks-ai.ru) began work in Stavropol to solve the problems of the Russian Emergencies Ministry. The event takes place within the framework of the federal project "Artificial Intelligence" and is part of a series of hackathons and lectures on artificial intelligence that will be held throughout Russia.
Within 48 hours, 12 teams will have to solve a case from the EMERCOM of Russia, the Federal Service for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring (Rosgidromet) and the Federal Agents for Forestro (Rosleskhoz). Based on the presented datasets and open data, using artificial intelligence technologies, it is necessary to develop an algorithm that allows predicting the average daily increase in the area of a large landscape fire. According to the results of the competition, the three best teams will be selected.
The opening ceremony was attended by representatives of the Russian Emergencies Ministry.
At present, the EMERCOM of Russia continues to actively address the problem of protecting settlements from landscape fires, using a variety of information resources and tools for modeling the development of the situation, as well as organizing and conducting preventive measures to prevent emergencies caused by the transition of fire to settlements, including the number and timely redeployment of forces and means.
“The use of artificial intelligence in this work (forecasting the increase in the area of landscape fire) will speed up the work being done, increase the efficiency and efficiency of forecasts, in the face of a rapidly changing situation, which will help in the shortest possible time, redistribute and attract additional forces and funds and eliminate the threat to populated areas, to reduce material damage and the number of victims among the population ”, - noted in the Russian Emergencies Ministry.
Hackathons and lectures on artificial intelligence - a series of educational events, within which, in the period from 2021 to 2024. It is planned to hold 116 hackathons on artificial intelligence in all regions of Russia.
