Alexey Serko took part in a large-scale experimental research training in Murmansk

On September 7, in four administration entities of the Russian Federation, in the framework of a large-scale interdepartmental experimental and research training to protect the territories included in the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation from emergencies, injections characteristic of a particular region were worked out. Alexey Serko, State Secretary - Deputy Head of EMERCOM of Russia, arrived in Murmansk on a working visit to open and control the conduct of all stages of the large-scale training.

“Today, the group of the Unified State System of Prevention and Elimination of Emergency Situations of the Murmansk region is testing the latest models of special equipment and technologies in real conditions, assessing the effectiveness of the tactics of the units, taking into account the climatic and territorial features and threats that are relevant for the region,” Alexey Serko said, opening the exercise in Murmansk.

In the water area of the Barents Sea, the rescue units of the EMERCOM of Russia have worked out several scenarios for the elimination of conventional emergencies. During the training, practical actions were worked out to eliminate the accident on the passenger ship "Princess Anastasia" and diving operations at an underwater potentially hazardous facility.

The first introductory exercise was the message about the accident of the Princess Anastasia cruise ship. There were about 2.7 thousand passengers and 390 crew members on board.

Practical actions to eliminate a simulated fire included measures to simulate fire extinguishing by the crews of sea-going vessels. The victims in need of emergency medical care were evacuated by Ka-32 helicopters of the Russian Emergencies Ministry and Ka-27 of the Northern Fleet. They were taken to the mobile hospital of the Federal biomedical agency of Russia at Cape Belokamenny and aboard a small rescuer ship from the Murmansk Arctic Complex Emergency Rescue Center of the Russian Emergencies Ministry. Most of the conditional victims were accommodated on the motor ship "Klavdiya Elanskaya".

Also, the paratrooper group of the MI-8 helicopter of the Northern Fleet was involved in the exercises, with a small sea-borne rescue kit being alerted to evacuate conditional victims from the water.

To prevent the spread of oil products in the water area, a rescue tug and a boat were involved in the response.

The second introductory exercise was the message about the discovery of a floating object, similar to a surfaced mine from the Second World War. Pyrotechnic works at depth were carried out by divers of the Center for High Risk Rescue Operations "Leader" of the EMERCOM of Russia. Rescue operations were complicated by strong winds, but the group of the Unified State System of Prevention and Elimination of Emergency Situations of the Murmansk Region coped with the tasks.

Alexey Serko noted the clarity and consistency of the work of all services, as well as the success of the training. In total, the group of the Unified State System of Prevention and Elimination of Emergency Situations of the Murmansk Region, consisting of over 600 specialists and more than 60 pieces of equipment, was involved in practical activities.
