The head of the EMERCOM of Russia, Alexander Kurenkov, and the Ministry of Natural Resources, Alexander Kozlov, held a meeting on a preliminary assessment of the flood period in the Amur River basin.
According to Alexander Kozlov, in five Regions located in the Amur basin, the water content of rivers is increasing, soil moisture and precipitation are above normal. Roshydromet predicts unstable weather and rainfall - flooding of coastal areas is expected. Deputy Head of the EMERCOM of Russia Victor Yatsutsenko reported on the hydrological situation in the Amur basin: there are currently no flooded houses in the territories and no threat to the safety of populated areas and infrastructure. Forces and assets have been placed on high alert.
Representatives of Rosvodresursy and Rostechnadzor reported on the condition of reservoirs and hydraulic structures.

Representatives of the authorities of the Trans-Baikal and Khabarovsk territories, the Amur and Jewish Autonomous Regions also reported on preparedness for floods in the event of an unfavorable weather forecast. The necessary forces and means have been brought into readiness, including equipment, watercraft, equipment for pumping water, temporary accommodation points, and a stock of financial and material resources has been formed.
“We must take the necessary preventive measures as much as possible. It is necessary to assess the situation in advance and ensure control over all preparatory activities. I also draw attention to the importance of vaccination: it needs to start today, without waiting for the flood to pass,” Alexander Kurenkov summed up the meeting.
