On behalf of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, an Il-76 aircraft with a crew and an operational group of the EMERCOM of Russia was sent to the Republic of Serbia to extinguish wild fires. The appeal for support came directly from the Serbian side: the partners turned to Russia with a call for help in connection with the critical worsening of the fire situation and the threat to populated areas.
The Il-76 aircraft is equipped with special equipment, including drainage devices, which can effectively combat large fires.
Within the framework of international cooperation and in accordance with the principles of mutual assistance, units of the EMERCOM of Russia are ready to quickly respond and closely interact with the relevant services of the Republic of Serbia. Joint efforts will be aimed at localizing wildfires, as well as protecting populated areas and critical facilities from the threat of fire spread.
At the same time, the Region faces an extremely difficult situation with natural fires: the scale of fires poses a serious threat to infrastructure and the population. The Russian side is ready to provide the necessary support, guided by humanitarian principles and the desire to minimize the consequences of the disaster.
The Russian Federation remains committed to supporting partners in overcoming the consequences of natural disasters. The dispatch of the aviation unit of the EMERCOM of Russia to the Republic of Serbia is a clear confirmation of Russia’s readiness to act in the interests of protecting people and territories, strengthening the traditions of international solidarity and mutual assistance.
