Before the start of the new academic year, the heads of the Ministry of Education at the site of the National Center for Crisis Management of the EMERCOM of Russia conducted an exercise to develop a complex scenario for the commission of terrorist crimes. Law enforcement officers and security forces, as well as education workers at all levels, were involved.
“During the exercise, we practice three training issues: actions during hostage-taking, during an attack using flammable liquids, and during an attack by unmanned aerial vehicles. Being prepared to take action in all of these situations is essential. It is important to exclude a formal approach to working out educational questions. I would like to note that kindergarten students also take part in the training. Methodological recommendations have been sent to the Regions that allow preschoolers to be psychologically and organizationally prepared for the perception and assimilation of educational material,” noted Sergei Kravtsov.
The key tasks were to develop action algorithms in various situations, test warning systems, and improve the information interaction of educational organizations with operational services and anti-terrorism commissions. The all-Russian exercise is aimed primarily at preserving the life and health of children, as well as increasing the level of training of students to act in the event of critical situations, noted the EMERCOM of Russia.
“Issues of countering acts of terrorism at educational facilities require the closest attention from all of us and the most coordinated actions. In addition, taking into account modern realities, the most important area remains preventive work to prevent children from being involved in illegal activities,” emphasized the head of the EMERCOM of Russia, Alexander Kurenkov.
Experts from the National Center for Assistance to Missing and Victimized Children were involved in the exercise. They conducted a practical lesson on preventing the involvement of minors in illegal activities via the Internet and social networks. The Center analyzed dozens of schemes for involving teenagers in crimes and prepared a series of preventive videos that explain in detail the mechanisms for recruiting minors to commit terrorist acts. The material created by specialists from the National Center will be used in preventive classes with schoolchildren, parent meetings, as well as at methodological meetings with teachers.
