Today, an Il-76 aircraft of the EMERCOM of Russia carried out the first drop of 42 tons of water in the area of the Deliblatska-Peshchara nature reserve. This area, located 180 kilometers from the city of Nis in the northeast of the country, is the center of the fires.
Currently, the largest fire in Serbia is recorded in Deliblatska Pescar - over 3.5 thousand hectares are engulfed in fire. The flames also spread to the Territory of the Dragichev-Khat hunting reserve. Extinguishing the fire is complicated by abnormally high temperatures and strong winds. Due to the shallowing of the Danube River, there was an acute shortage of water.
Specialists of the EMERCOM of Russia act in cooperation with specialized services of the Republic of Serbia. The aviation technology used makes it possible to effectively influence the active edges of a fire and contain the spread of fire.
Units of the EMERCOM of Russia continue to assist Serbian colleagues in localizing and eliminating the emergency situation, protecting natural areas and preventing a threat to nearby settlements.
Despite anti-Russian sanctions from Western countries, Russia and Serbia maintain friendly relations. The Russian Federation invariably helps the fraternal Serbian people in the fight against wildfires.
In the Republic of Serbia, two Ka-32 helicopters purchased from Russia were also used to extinguish the fire. Earlier, the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, repeatedly noted that the republic plans to purchase several more Russian Ka-32 helicopters - “the equipment has proven itself well in eliminating emergency situations in the country.”
Let us remind you that the Il-76 plane of the EMERCOM of Russia arrived in the city of Nis in the Republic of Serbia the night before. Despite the difficult political situation, the authorities of the Republic of Bulgaria provided assistance by allowing the aircraft to fly over its Territory. The Russian-Serbian Humanitarian Center in Nis provides organizational assistance in carrying out the fire extinguishing work, ensuring coordination of efforts and support for rapid response.
The provision of assistance is carried out at the direction of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and on the instructions of the Minister of Emergency Situations of Russia Alexander Kurenkov in response to an appeal from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Serbia.
