The State Duma adopts the law on the voluntary fire protection
The State Duma on 20 April adopted in the third and final reading the law “On the voluntary fire protection”. The law regulates the establishment of Voluntary fire brigades in Russia, stipulates rights, duties and responsibilities of volunteers.

The State Fire Control Service has finished inspecting dormitories. The “black lists” of objects violating preventive fire-fighting regulations were made up.
EMERCOM supervising bodies in the first quarter of 2011carried out more than 7,000 inspections of facilities used as dormitories. More than 60,000 violations of fire safety requirements were revealed.

EMERCOM opens the exhibition “Chernobyl: a quarter century long pain...”
21 April 2011 the museum exhibition “Chernobyl: a quarter century long pain...”, organized by the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia opens at the Central Museum of the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945 at the Memorial complex on Poklonnaya Hill. The exhibition is devoted to the 25-year anniversary of the tragedy at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.

17 April 1991 by The Council of Ministers of the RSFSR decision № 207 Sergey Kuzhugetovich Shoigu was appointed the chairman of the Russian Rescue Corps, which a few months later was transformed into the Russian Federation State Committee for Affairs of Civil Defence, Emergencies and Disaster Relief, and in 1994 was made the Ministry.
