On March 1, 2021, the 26th anniversary of the formation of the Southern Regional Search and Rescue Unit of the EMERCOM of Russia is marked. The history of the formation of the unit began in the 1970s, with the rescue service of the All-Union Council of Voluntary Sports Societies of Trade Unions. In the early 90s, the service became part of the subdivisions of the State Committee for Emergency Situations. On March 1, 1995, the Sochi Territorial Search and Rescue Service of the EMERCOM of Russia was created, later reorganized into the Southern Regional Search and Rescue Detachment.
March 1st is World Civil Defence Day. As decided by the International Civil Defence Organization (hereinafter ICDO), the theme of this year's World Day celebration is: "STRONG CIVIL PROTECTION TO PRESERVE THE NATIONAL ECONOMY".
On February 27, at the Central Park of Culture and Leisure named after the 1000th anniversary of the city of Bryansk, the already traditional All-Russian Ski Race "Ski Track of Russia - 2021" was held. In order to test their strength, more than three thousand residents of the Bryansk region of different ages and levels of physical fitness came to the sports festival.
The traditional All-Russian sailing regatta "Winter Riviera" has been held in Sochi since February 23rd. The southern resort is the only place in Russia where sailing competitions can be held during the winter months. Safety in the water area of Sochi is ensured by the specialists of the Adler Inspection Section of the State Inspection Service of the Russian Federation.
At the meeting of the Government of the Russian Federation, Minister of Emergencies of Russia Evgeniy Zinichev presented amendments to Federal Law No. 68-FZ "On the Protection of Population and Territories from Natural and Technogenic Emergencies". The bill prepared by the department was approved by the Government of the Russian Federation.
On February 25, in Rostov-on-Don, under the leadership of the Deputy Minister of EMERCOM of Russia Ilya Denisov, a meeting was held on the readiness of the management bodies, forces and means of the Unified State System of Prevention and Elimination of Emergency Situations to act as intended on the eve of the fire prone season of 2021 within the Southern Federal District.
On February 25, a video conference was held with the participation of the First Deputy Minister of EMERCOM of Russia Alexander Chupriyan and the Deputy Minister for the Protection of Greek Citizens Nikolaos Hardalias.
Large-scale firefighting and tactical trainings took place in Sevastopol, in which a significant part of the forces and means of the territorial firefighting and rescue garrison was involved. The action took place at one of the most significant and large city cultural facilities: in the building of the Anatoly Lunacharsky Sevastopol Academic Russian Drama Theater.
