EMERCOM rescuers keep helping Japan. Relief aid being provided

79 Russian rescuers have been in Sendai (Japan) since March 15.

They have 3 vehicles, search and rescue equipment.

They began search and rescue operations in the northeastern part of Sendai at 00.00 MSK March 16.

During the first day of operation they found eight dead bodies. Unfortunately, it was impossible to find survivors.

Two more EMERCOM airplanes An-74 and IL-76 with rescuers and an expert group of "Rosatom" on board left March 16 to Japan.

In total there are 82 people, 4 vehicles, search and rescue equipment. Both planes landed in the airport Narita.

Thus, there are 161 Russian rescuers in Japan. This is the largest foreign group of rescuers, providing assistance to the country at the moment.

Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia also provides relief aid to Japan.

EMERCOM plane IL-76 took off March 16 at 00.00 MSK from the airport Ramenskoye to the airport Narita (Japan) with a stopover in Khabarovsk. There are more than 17 tons of relief aid, Japan had asked for on board - 8600 blankets.
