The rescuers have examined 75 percent of the mine underground routes in the Kemerovo Region and reached the most hard-to-get-to area where the people can be. This is what the Head EMERCOM of Russia Sergey Shoigu reported about. He outlined that methane concentration under the ground is still very high.

According to him, the rescuers managed to pass the 18th level, where serious destructions had occurred as a result of the explosion.

“The rescuers have to overcome big debris in the 18th level, order to pass the narrow space,” said Sergey Shoigu.

“We let a fresh air stream into the remote area. The rescue group is heading there at the moment. They must be there in 4 hours. If we find people there, we can help them out only in 24 hours,” stressed the Minister, outlining that there are 12 rescue subdivisions under the ground now, 6 people in each of them, together with the miners.

He reported that the surface debris of the “Raspadskaya” mine had been cleared away. According to the latest information, the tragedy caused deaths of 60 people, there is no information about 30 people. 99 people appealed for medical help after the accident, 94 of them were hospitalized.
