The Russian Emergencies Ministry and Ozon will develop fire safety literacy

The Russian Emergencies Ministry, in cooperation with Ozon, has launched an information project on fire safety.

When purchasing certain categories of goods on the marketplace, users will receive an email with a reminder of the rules of conduct in case of fire. The recommendations were developed by experts from the Russian Emergencies Ministry. Users will be reminded of what to do in case of a fire in a simple and understandable form, what means can be used in the early stages of a fire (without a threat to life) and how to call the fire department.

At the first stage, the mailing will be available to buyers of fire extinguishers. Then the project will be scaled up to fire alarms and pyrotechnics, and in the future, other areas. The reminder will be automatically sent to the email of the Ozon client subscribed to the company's mailings, the day after the purchase.

Director of the Information Policy Department of the Russian Emergencies Ministry Roman Okhotenko emphasized: “The topic of fire safety is always relevant, and our department pays great attention to prevention among citizens. But we want to urge every person to take care of this issue, because life is one. Over the first 8 months of this year, there have already been over 260,000 fires, of which over 66,000 were in residential buildings. A fire extinguisher is a primary means of fire extinguishing that should be in every home. And the accompanying memos, developed together with Ozon, will help you learn how to use it." Deputy Managing Director of Ozon Vladimir Goncharevich noted: "Sales of fire-fighting equipment on our platform are growing: in the first half of 2024, Russians bought 20% more fire extinguishers than in the same period last year. The memo, developed in partnership with the Russian Emergencies Ministry, will help make the use of protective equipment even more effective and improve overall fire safety literacy."
